Rocca delle Macie Chianti 2011

This is a medium bodied Italian chianti of the Sangiovese grape variety. This is an extra-dry red wine produced in the Tuscany region in Italy with an alcohol level of 13%. Still very new and does not contain as in-depth flavors of years past, but a very solid table wine nonetheless, exceptional value! This should be a staple for all household’s as an every day drinking wine, this wine will surely not disappoint with guests at the dinner table. Rocca pairs most suitably with tomato sauced pastas, pizzas and red meats.  Alla Salute!

  1. As well as my wife, I’m a dedicated Chianti lover: we called our daughter Siena, the jewel city South of Chianti. I’m going to try the Rocca delle Macìe classico, which is more expensive in Quebec, unfortunately. The thing about Chianti is that is almost always a pretty good wine, full of expresiveness and with that lovely balance between character and bright. They are like intelligent people with a very good sense of humor. Not all Tuscans are like that!

    1. What a beautiful name you have given your daughter, pure brilliance to relate it to a city you admire so deeply! What is the price in Quebec? I have tried to put an adequate range for the review as pricing varies by Canadian province and American state. Please let me know your thoughts if you are able to try the bottle!

      1. Well, SAQ sells the Rocca delle Macìe Chianti Classico 2009 for 26,45 CAD! Quite a difference, isn’t it?
I’ll have to cross the Ottawa River to try it, I guess…
